Your reflection should include the following:
A global/cultural learning experience that addresses either a change in knowledge, skills, or values/attitude. Clearly articulate global learning rather than personal learning. The committee is not evaluating your ability to discuss the attributes of global competency they are looking for evidence of learning. If you need help with understanding what knowledge or skills or attitudes or values look like in a global context, please check out the pdf entitled “Table of Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes” above in the Moodle course. Check out the rubric posted on Moodle for reference. You will only have two chances to rewrite your reflective essay if necessary.
A reflective essay is meant to evaluate an experience and in the case of Global Competency it’s about you evaluating your prior – present – future experiences within a global context. It’s not only about describing and giving examples of the things you have done but you need to analyze and evaluate what it means that you have had those experiences.
Tell us:
- WHAT you learned?
- WHY it is important?
- HOW the learning will impact you in the the future?
Word maximum is 600-1000.
